These Are a Few of my Favorite Things
Be Aware~Jan's Page

Christmas time is almost here. I will be listing a few of my favorite things, the number 1 recipe for me and telling you a tradition in our family.
Christmas has always been a special family time. It changed a lot on Christmas Day 1999 when my Grandma, Ruby Mauhar, passed away.  I am starting to get back into the swing of things though.

A Family Tradition
Like a lot of people, our tradition involves going out
and looking at Christmas lights.
My Grama Mauhar started this with my Mom.
Along the way, they also started looking for Santa's elves.
My parents continued this tradition with my sis and I.
My husband and I do this with our 2 girls.
My youngest is always sure she sees elves, at least
100 of them.

My All Time Favorite Christmas Cookie
Russian Tea Cakes
1 cup butter(margerine) softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix ingredients well. Mix will be crumbly. Chill about an hour.
Roll dough into walnut sized balls. Place on cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees 8 to 10 minutes.
Let cool slightly, roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
My Gram made these every year and they are my
very favorite thing.
